Nee Soon Camp Medical Centre
Nestled in the northern part of Singapore, Nee Soon Camp is a military installation with a history dating back to the British colonial era. The camp has witnessed countless soldiers come and go, and while it serves as a place of training and discipline, it also harbours stories that send chills down the spine of even the bravest recruits. One such story revolves around the old British medical centre within the camp, a place shrouded in eerie tales and unsettling experiences.

The British medical centre at Nee Soon Camp, built during the colonial period, was once a state-of-the-art facility. However, as the years passed, it became a shadow of its former self, with narrow, dark corridors and a run-down appearance. Despite its dilapidated state, the medical centre continued to function, providing care to soldiers who fell ill or were injured during training.

It was well-known among the medics and recruits that the sick bay, particularly at night, was a place of unease. The medics had an unofficial policy: if the sick bay housed fewer than three patients, they would all be moved to another room to sleep with the medics for the night. This practice stemmed from numerous accounts of disturbing 'things' seen and heard in the sick bay after dark. It was believed that this policy helped keep the recruits and medics safe from the inexplicable phenomena that plagued the night.

One rainy evening, Private Lee reported to the sick bay with a high fever. The storm outside mirrored the turmoil he felt within, as he had heard the stories about the old medical centre. That night, there were only two other recruits in the sick bay, both recovering from minor injuries. As per the policy, the medics moved all three to a single room, ensuring they stayed together through the night.

Private Lee found it difficult to sleep. The dim light from the corridor cast eerie shadows on the walls, and the rain continued to batter the windows. As the hours dragged on, a sense of dread filled the room. Around midnight, Lee was jolted awake by a cold breeze, though the windows were firmly shut. He glanced around and noticed the other recruits were also awake, their eyes wide with fear.

One of the recruits, Private Tan, pointed towards the corner of the room. "Do you see that?" he whispered, his voice trembling. Lee squinted into the darkness and saw a figure standing there, its form barely visible in the dim light. The figure seemed to be wearing an old British military uniform, its face obscured by shadow.

The room grew colder, and an oppressive silence enveloped them. The figure began to move, its steps slow and deliberate. Lee felt his heart pound in his chest as the apparition approached. Just as it seemed to reach out towards them, the door to the room burst open, and a medic entered, his face pale.

"Everyone, get out!" the medic shouted. The recruits didn't need to be told twice. They scrambled out of the room, barely daring to look back. Once outside, the medic explained that he had heard their whispers and had come to check on them, only to see the ghostly figure himself.

The incident left an indelible mark on Private Lee and the other recruits. While the old British medical centre continued to serve its purpose, the stories of its hauntings persisted. Recruits who heard the tales were more likely to report to the sick bay during the day, avoiding the place at night if they could.

Whether the stories are true or simply a product of overactive imaginations, one thing is certain: the old British medical centre at Nee Soon Camp remains a place of fear and mystery.
